I am very pleased you like the bolt mods. I have done so many now that I have it down to a science, so it's good to hear that hard work pays off with satisfied customers. As for the release, I honestly had not thought anyone would want a repair. I was so destroyed that I had produced a product that was causing fitment issues on some models that I just wanted to give refunds. If you would like a repair, I believe I have solved the problem and will gladly perform the necessary machining free of charge. I also clean and polish the upper bolt too if you wanted to have that done here for a perfect match to the polished release. My pics in the beginning of the thread show it on my rifle, but it's hard to tell. It does look awesome though.

I considered it, but I had wanted to make these first. Until I get these working properly that will be on the back burner.



As a general reply to all members that read this,
I will be more than happy to machine the necessary repairs to any release that needs it for free if the buyer decides to go that route instead of getting a refund. I believe I have identified and solved for the fitment issue and if I decide to manufacture more they will fit anything. At this point I have not heard back from half the buyers, so I have no idea how many this has impacted. Once I have solved every issue, and taken care of all the people necessary, I will look at offering the redesign release at that point.

Thank you all for being understanding. It means a great deal. I will make this right for all people involved, and hopefully have a bullet proof design in the end.

Can the mag be released similar to the truly tactical sks mag catch? By twisting your hand on the pistol grip and pulling back with your pointer finger?

Without spending the excess money on one from Truly tactical to compare, I would have to estimate that they are very similar in operation.

Not to mention truly tactical doesn't even ship to Canada! Can somebody do a video with this mag release?

For lack of a better name or I just don't know what it is called, I will call the part that needs to be trimmed "the belly" but it is 7/16" long and if you take half off or 7/32" that should give me about 1/16 of clearance.  I believe this will work on all 3 of my Chinese I hope to be able to get these mag releases for.  If you have a couple people that want refunds I will gladly purchase those from you, and as I say I think taking the belly half off will work on my rifles.

That is pretty much where I tapered off the 'belly' too.  I could have done a prettier job with a vise and a workbench, but I got it to work...the ground part isn't visible anyway.  Just be careful... I slipped a bit.

You can make it nice and smooth up to your pencil point too...Its not much clearance needed..only a millimeter or two.  I just wish there was a little bit of meat in the grooves to file down to get a bit less play in it.  Does any kind of solder stick to stainless?

I did have to trim the spring down a bit but  the mag release fit perfect.

That looks awesome! I don't think I've ever seen an SKS quite like that one before. It looks very clean.



The pic that Juaneye posted on page 5 with the pencil tip pointing out the area to remove is my primary solution to this issue. I will be using a carbide corner radius mill to clean out that section so it maintains it's clean lines and has the necessary clearance.

What  a beautiful rifle that is, I'm getting antsy; I sure can't wait for my trigger group to get back home so I can put mine on...of course my rifle is not this purdy.

Well, ebay people are nuts on anything gun related, look at what some 10 round fixed mags sell for, I have seen them sell for $50, and the 20 round fixed over $100 routinely.  I don't know what to call that phenomenon other than those people must only think that ebay is their only source for gun parts and just are that ignorant about gun items, which for us sellers is a good thing.  VCNC can sell here for his discount price and then sell on ebay and make a killing
