Smith-Sights helped me win!
« on: October 30, 2013, 02:16:39 PM »
I want to start of by saying thank you! You make an excellent product that truly does what it is supposed to do. I honestly believe without your sights, my mosin would not have had a chance in winning the Florida vintage rifle competition!

Between the skinnier sight post, and the ability to truly zero the rifle it's a win / win in my book!
I can't wait to see what my prize is :)

If you guys are on the fence about it, you need to stop waiting and do it. You won't be sorry!

Thank you Sir!  Glad to hear it.

What was the course of fire?  We don't have these around here so far as I know.  Would love to!

It was two rounds, 5 shots each round. 1st round was the top two shooters (most hits in the black) and the second round was first to blow up the tannerite filled pumpkin.

I'm watching right now.

You beat out... lessee... a Garand, and what's that I'm seeing over there, a Mauser?  Arisaka?

I subbed to your channel.  Wish I could find a vintage rifle match around here.

Were you allowed to sling up if you wished?

It was a Garand and a Springfield (I think it was a 1903). We could have used the sling if we wanted to but since I zeroed without the tension of the sling I was not sure how the change in pressure would effect the accuracy and harmonics.

I still need to order one of your cork and shim kits, hopefully I'll be able to do so in the next week or two.

I didnt realize you had the smith's until Sunday (when the rifles were all put away). I wanted to check them out as I meant to order a pair BEFORE the shoot FOR the shoot, and didnt get around to it :(

Heimdhal, im glad you didn't get them before the shoot. I might not have won lol... I will say they are worth every penny. Once you switch over to the smith sights you quickly realize that a lot of the "flyers" from the mosin aren't flyers, it's the user not consistently aiming where they think they are aiming.

Get a set, you won't be disappointed. If you are disappointed, you can always sell your used pair to me. :)

Josh , thanks for your continued support of the site and our events; 8)

 To answer a question or two about our rifle competitions, they are shot from the prone position using a (basically) stock rifle- either a vintage (WWI-WWII military rifle) or an SKS (the only mod allowed being Tech-sights) ; no scopes or other optics, no sandbags, bipods , or rests, just the rifle, the sling, the Earth, and the marksman;

Bare-bones marksmanship fundamentals rule  the day or gadgets or bench resting, and the accuracy come from the shooter's skill and ability to properly apply the fundamentals....

It's a lot of fun, and it's a great challenge......

Unlike the pistol competition, which is a piece of cake.
