Side rail for M70 B1
DBLTINES:
Hello
I have a M70 B1 that I would like to install a Yugo side rail for a scope.I have a RS product for a Yugo Ak already and would like to use it. Is there a supplier for a side rail that is for the M70B1 ? The RS mount I have is the 307 for the Yugo pattern.

The Zastava PAP type rails are not available at retail. They were never imported.
You may find a take-off rail on Gunbroker, Ebay or an AK site Marketplace.
A modified M76 or other rail can work but not necessarily with that mount you have chosen. You would have to research that.
I installed a take-off PAP rail on a hybrid Zastava build in 5.56. I modified it and moved it forward on the receiver by 1.25 inches and used the lower front trunnion rivet. It is a much better location than the original for most mounts.
I started out using a M76 optic.,
But later switched to a Russian mount and a simple 3.5 power PU style optic.

Great info. I have one of the new Zastava AK in 223 with the polymar mag welland takes AR mags. i put a RS mount on it and it works great. i was thinking of using the mount from it on the M70. I dont need it on the 223. The iron sights are good enough. I guess i am trying to save money. Now I think I will look for a standard type rail for the M70 . Any suggestions on a rail and where to get it? I will use the RS Product mounts. They are pricy but very good.

It is a joiurney to determine if that mount will work with a particular rail. Based on the placement of he rail etc. There were no rails on the Zastava kits. The only railed Zastava rifles were/are the PAP models.
If you have riveting tools you can mount the rail. Though some use screws. Locating the rail and drilling the receiver takes some tools and set up. Apex and A of A have various rails.
The other option is a receiver cover rail like TWS (Texas Weapons System). Easy install., bore centered.
There is also this rail that is an easy install.., no rivets, screws or spot welds.

I have a Ultimak on a Mak 90 and it has been great but I still like the side mount. I am a little concerned to mount a side rail. Although it looks like it can be done . I would like to have a model to go by.
