AK47 Loading Issue
YUGOSKS1234:
I purchased an AK47. Every magazine I tired has worked fine, except the drum mag. When the drum mag is inserted I can’t load the first round as the handle only goes 1/2 back. Any ideas?

Valmet:
I’m wondering if the spring pressure pushing the ammo into the mag well is enough that the charging handle needs extra force to clear it? Not trying to knock your purchase but I’m cautious of AK drums that aren’t milsurp, which yours doesn’t look to be?
Are you able to decompress the spring and don’t wind it as tightly when you try it again, perhaps easing some of the pressure?
Toad:
Buy a real drum.
Uncle Billy:
contact PROMAG and return it for another one.
other then that, PROMAG doesn't have a stellar reputation for making functional mags. sometimes though they make them right..........took a chance and bought their HK33 mag, because they were 12 bucks so I decided to roll the dice, and surprise, surprise it worked perfectly. :)
so i bought several more.........beats paying 80 bucks for one factory HK mag

Why drums mags aren't all that great: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d69pw4PcBmE&vl=en.
One of the reasons mentioned is that it's hard to manufacture a reliable drum magazine . . .
