Question on C&R eligibility
« on: December 17, 2024, 06:32:35 PM »
I have a Paratrooper SKS modified in China for export. The receiver is an arsenal /26\, 12th year, 1967, Type 56. In standard OEM configuration as imported (restored) would it be C&R eligible based on the fact it is a /26\ and more than 50 years old (receiver anyway) or does being a 'Paratrooper' disqualify it?

NO GO on a Para. Has to be original configuration, at least in Kali. Your guys might look the other way, PAX

So when you say original configuration you mean it still has to have a 20" barrel on it and cutting the barrel down to 16" nullifies the C&R status? That is kind of what I was thinking, but never having had a C&R license I am a little lacking in some of the ambiguity on this. I know some guys who have blatantly sold and shipped bubba'd rifles to C&R holders because it was older than 50 years. The fact that the paratrooper has the appearance of an OEM configuration SKS it still has the barrel shortened. That is where it becomes fuzzy to me, partly because it IS a factory /26\ build. :banghead: :banghead:

It is kinda fuzzy, especially when you consider how many rifles had the bayo lugs cut off during the bayo ban era. How many of those weapons were sold as C&R? PAX

Yeah, and I prefer to play it safe. With added input from our friends on another forum  ;) I opted to tell the guy no when asked if I'd sell to a C&R directly.

I've never had an 03 because I always did better on the street, but Kali outlawed Cash & Carry in 2014 and that killed that (between new buyers/sellers). PAX
