Mismatched bring back vs matching SKS
« on: April 09, 2025, 02:23:05 AM »
Hello,

I'm interested in understanding the difference in value between a /26\ SKS that has a matching bolt and one that has a mismatched bolt. This rifle was manufactured in 1966 and was brought back as a souvenir. How common are mismatched bolts on these souvenirs? Do you have any insights on this?

We need pictures. There are a few variables in that equation, the first and foremost is documentation. And as usual buy the rifle not the story, but it is common for field captures to have mismatched carriers/bolts. The general consensus is that a VC unit often cleaned their weapons in mass, a combat group or team would boil all the bolts at once or whatever. I have a paperless bring back that matches except the bolt carrier. PAX

It is documented by a presentation plaque; there are no capture papers. Overall, the condition is very good. The metal parts show very little wear, while the stock is dark with dings and scratches, but nothing serious.
