The defective crossbolt I mentioned earlier has been professionally repaired and cold blued.

The stock appears to be designed for a threaded barrel. It measures 9" from the crossbolt to the end of the stock channel.

The SKS wooden stock restoration project is complete. The SKS stock appears to be performing significantly better than expected.

I purchased a crossbolt specifically designed for the "jungle" SKS fiberglass stock.
The crossbolt head is different in shape. To keep it from turning in the regular wooden stock, I intend to drill a hole and insert a pin similar to standard crossbolts. It's a good idea to keep any spare SKS parts for future projects.

Yes, it was/has been. Since the cheap Chinese rifles dried up, I'm mostly out of the game but still have a mess of stocks, OG, phenolic, poly and a couple hunnerd pounds of parts but no barreled actions. I gave up buying those when my go-to FFL hung up his shingle. It costs more to receive them than they cost here in Kali. He used to charge me $25 bucks to process 5 actions on one 4473  8). PAX

Someday, SKS parts will be equal to 24-karat gold.  :) So, keep them all.

My sentiment exactly! If I don't last, Greatguns is gonna score pretty hard.
After I reclaim my shop, I'll have to do a layout and photograph all the stuff. I just finished boxing up 20 stocks, mostly SKS, a few Enfield's #1s, Arisaka, 03-A3 and Mini14. I ran a quick inventory, if I run up on 2 barreled actions, I can build 2 more SKS rifles in either blade or spike bayo.
But 3 VW stroker motors stepped in front. I can test run complete VW engines on a test stand, do the break in, oil change and initial valve readjust, turn-key ready to install and fly away. One I hope to build a Baja Bug. I also have a 2.2 T4 VW (for a '72 bus or 914 Porche), K code HP289 Cobra, 3.3 Toyota, 1.9 Saturn all patiently awaiting the right chassis to fall in my lap. PAX

I've just finished creating a quick-detach adapter for the fixed AR-15-style stock. The length of pull is adjustable.

The crossbolt designed for the "Jungle" stock has been modified into a universal crossbolt that fits any SKS stock.

Back to life.
Someone ground off the hook for unknown reasons, and it was professionally restored to its original factory specifications.
