My brother, who is not a firearms person, became the proud owner of a new shotgun.
He asked me to look at it to see what it needed as far as cleaning and lube.
Brought me the box and I said, no way there's a shotgun in there unless it's broken down.
I was wrong
Opened up the box and drug out the ugliest gun I've ever seen. It's a bullpup design. It's short, about 30" long.
I've never seen one of these and wasn't aware they existed.
My first impression, beyond it being ugly and short was "How do you hold this thing?" If you're not used to having the magazine behind the pistol grip, it takes some getting used to.
I got online and read some of the reviews, not real good. Jams and fails to fire were consistently mentioned.
So I tore it down, cleaned it real good and lubed it. Then I took it out out and shot it.
It's not real heavy so there is some recoil. More than my pump gun.
The sights look like they came off an airsoft gun, really cheapo and fragile looking.
But it cycled OK. No jams. no failure to fire or feed. The sights were so crude I gave up on them and just pointed the thing at the target, which was just a man sized piece of cardboard I cut out of a water heater box. It actually pointed and shot decently.
I had a red dot in the goodies box so I mounted it on the rail. It has a riser so it was easy to pick up. Went back out and shot it some more. The red dot helped. Still has pretty good recoil but it did seem to function OK.
Ran about 80-90 shells thru it, mixed bag of plastic and paper hulls, buck and bird. The GForce website says use 1400 FPS anno to break in and then 1500FPS thereafter. Not sure what all the stuff I shot was but it worked.
I cleaned it up and turned it back over to it's owner.
Maybe I was a bit hasty in my initial evaluation.
No, it's still an ugly gun. You'd never use it hunt although the information I've seen says you can use slugs in it. It has choke tubes, one provided in IC.
It's never gonna win a beauty contest, that's for sure. It's weird to hold, I kept thinking my my hands were in the wrong location and mag changes felt clumsy. The gun includes one 5 round magazine and 10 rounders are available. It doesn't balance well with no mag inserted and it's worse with a loaded 5 rounder. I can imagine what it feels like with a 10 round in the well.
I wouldn't buy one. It could be good for home defense I suppose. For Ugly, it's got a Hi Point beat, hands down. But, it did function and I guess, if it kept you alive, you could get past it's looks.
This is from the website.
