Will have to work on her trigger some more.
The Savage with the Accutrigger has a "Safety Blade" with a spring that also adds to trigger pull while at the same time applies some force to the trigger itself.
You want to have some reserve above the safety blade spring force to keep the trigger from tripping early.
With stock parts I was able to get total pull to about 1.5lbs.
Now with about 200 rounds and a bunch of dry fires it's a pound, or a little less.
The safety blade is about 8oz so there is some margin left.
After the next match I plan to install a mod to reduce the blade force keeping a margin before the trigger trips.
Something around 10 to 12oz total should be OK and still be safe for prone/bench shooting.
Don't want to go to much less than a pound, even with the Target Trigger

Stripped the ugly red/orange safety blade of the Target Trigger and put the Caldwell to it :)

The Gold will help with group size

Mods to Flo's Savage are on hold, per her orders until AFTER the match.
I've read just about every twerk tweak written about the Savage action.
A couple members over at SavageShooters have been posting for years on the action.
I put two shims in the flat wound spring stack with no external washer to get force up some.
Seemed to do pretty good last practice trip.

Also have a new style BAS with a carbide micrometer tip insert to contact the SiN4 ball (in 38Spl case head) to put in one of the bolts to test.

Inserted a single race from a 10mm thrust bearing under the carbide tip.  Recess is now about 0.030".
I can make that up with another 38case/ceramic ball set a little higher.

Will try light trigger (with the Accutrigger) and see how she does (at practice).
She really likes the Accutrigger. The blade is like a guide to get the same finger placement.
Big change from an AR trigger :)

Changed springs in Flo's Savage.
Hope it's not too light for her.

Got some more Win41 primers and will let her try the 41's (20ea) and CCI450 (20ea) plus some foulers.
Just to make sure pin impact force is OK for the 41 type primers.
Didn't do a deep clean on the barrel.
Played with the springs and got a 7oz pull with about 50% blade force.
Original Trigger and Sear.
10 pull average is 7.2oz, range was 7.4 to 6.8

Made a range trip to Saorsa Acres in Bogalusa.
5 sec video, one trigger pull.
https://www.flickr.com/photos/130540888@N07/53618740268/
600yds, windy as heck, then some 100yd shots.
Flo dialed back to her previous 100yd zero and shot at an 8" target (push pin in center as a POA).
Shot the 4 sighters then 10 shots with CCI 450 primers, then changed target and shot 10 with WIN41.

Got some pics of today's 600 yd match that I will post later, after a nap.
Flo shot her first ever 200-8X @ 600.
196-8, 196-6, 200-8 for a 98.67%.

I have to be careful offering advice during a match string.  Seems every time I do, she pulls a 9  :banghead:
On her third string this morning (the 200 one) she had a string of 10's going and I just had to ask her to pause and evaluate her string.
She moved up 2 clicks (1/4MOA), shot a few more then moved up again.  I held my breath for the rest of the string.
Look at the picture, the "9" sighter is just visible, and more would have followed if she had just kept shooting.

Here's her 200-8x group with the scope adjustments that saved the day :)
Almost had a windage 9 or two.

Went back to 600yds Saturday.
Ran a small ladder with 95SMK with both WIN41 and CCI450 primers (in the bolt gun).

Shows promise but need a little fine tuning of charge and seating depth.

While we have some down time (range closed this week) I'm reloading ammo and doing a little fine tuning to Flo's Bolt Gun.

Gonna swap in another spring for the trimmed AccuTrigger Blade.
Bought some Chinese springs recommended by a member over on Savage Shooters, 0.3mm X 5mm X 15mm.
Twisted up one turn to fit into hole in trigger.  Got UNDER 2oz for Blade only force.
Will test in action to see what Total trigger force is.  Total is currently about 7oz.
5-6oz total is probably as low as we want to go, for now.

Think I am done with trigger springs.
Took the 3.5oz blade spring out and installed the 1.8oz blade spring in Flo's rifle and total force went UP from 7oz to about 7.8oz.
(blade spring helps trigger)

Cut about 1/2 turn off trigger spring and got Total pull force of less than 7.055oz (200 gram weight).
Digital gauge indicates about 6.6 to 6.8oz.
I'll just call it 2oz/7oz with a noticeable step in force from blade to tripping the trigger.

Went to my high priced range in Bogalusa and due to miscommunication, 600 e-target wasn't set up.
Could have asked but decided on walking a target, and BulletCam out to 200 yds.
Got up to 90F and 200 was far enough :)
Flo beat my groups most of the morning (just barely :) ) with her bolt gun.

Final challenge, last remaining shots (I had 6, she had 10), winner gets top.
Green squares are about 1/2 MOA, 3 inch dots, at 200yds

Who Won???

Savage with new trigger springs.  2oz blade, 7oz total.

May 600yd match got rained out.
So we went today for some trigger time.
Shotmarker was set up with bottom leads reversed.
Walked out to put up a witness splatter target (8")
SM and Paper seemed to match.  Just under an MOA @600.
Got beat (just barely).

I think it was the new paint job on her rest

Got another match this coming Saturday.
I'll shoot my canted AR and Flo will shoot her Savage with all the bells and whistle mods I've done.
Increased Pin Fall, Spring mod, RV's special Bolt Lift Kit, and increased Primary Extraction.
Latest mod is to the Savage Rear Baffle.
