It does cycle out of the action, I have 8 shots of mixed buck and bird in the mag, plus some buck and the adapter in the shell holder.  The adapter is not really "a part of my HD" setup but rather a convenient place to store the adapter.  In any event, at what distance do you think a HD situation might occur, in my house it would never ever be more than 25 ft.

I guess it depends on your situation. In a home/apartment 25 ft. is probably typical for most. My brother has a larger open plan house, and around 50 ft. is possible in one area. Still well within range of any buckshot. If for some reason you need more range, like the fight occurs outside, then you should be using slugs, or better yet, a rifle.

Oh man!

Your Saiga turned out nice. Were did you get that RPK stock?  I haven't started on mine yet.

picked it up here, www.jesticearms.com, but they are out now.  it was unused russian surpluss, cleaned off the grease and stripped it and stained it red.
you can find them on gunbroker too. I just kept googling rpk stock and finally found it.  I wanted a polish lamianted PSL handguard to mod to put on it but had no luck finding one.
It is a carbine because Sergei Gavrilovich Simonov said it's a carbine.

Lol...I can't take credit for that one.

Found that on another forum (http://www.militaryfirearm.com/Forum/forumdisplay.php?56-Bubba-s-Place)

They have an entire section dedicated to bubba jobs. Some are actually kinda cool, others...well, you'll see.

That's hilarious. They probably should have gone with the tactical black or camo duct tape though.

Sorry for the crumy pic.

Remington 870 Express has bedroom duty.

The Mossberg 590 is hidden in the living room.

And the Savage Model 24 in 22lr/20 ga is hidden in the kitchen. Not exactly HD material but one #3 buck and one 40gr RN is better then the paring knife and frying pan. Probably should find a cheap pump to replace it with in kitchen duty.

I want to shoot the Saiga a little more before I put it on HD duty.

Norinco makes em, new Norinco shotguns are legal for import to USA but rifles aren't. IIRC

how easy to work is the 1887 clone? Is it reliable?

Mine is smooth as silk, Very reliable.
The New ones need to be worked or have an Action Job done to smooth out the action.
