Would this mount allow for a shell deflector to be mounted on it if I decide to put a scope that would require it?

Haven't tried to add a deflector to ours. The Mount itself may protect the scope, but if not, we have often recommended adding a rubber tube around the objective lens portion to protect it.

We'll take a look at the possibilities and get back to you.

I'm going to get this scope mount for my Romanian SKS.  Is there a particular scope that you recommend that fits well, and still allows use of stripper clips to load?

My intended use is deer & varmint hunting, probably at 50-100 yards or so.  So not just a red dot, but something with magnification.  Maybe a 4x?

Thanks.

I would love to see some shooting   groups from guns that use this mount.

I would like a package deal, mount installed, trigger job, head space check,

I really like your scope mount. I have been talking to my friend who is a Vortex dealer and he said: " but it looks to me like if you shoulder the rifle properly and extended you neck to proper shooting forum your eye would be right on top of the scope and you need your eye roughly 2-3 inches from the back of the base." I agree with him. But if the scope is forward there is concern that it will be hammered by the shell casings. Is that true? Is there a Vortex scope that will work well in this application that you guys know of?

I have a Red Dot mounted on mine (the one in the picture here), and have no problems with ejection issues, and you can still use stripper clips.  Vortex makes several scopes that would likely work, to wit: Crossfire II 1-4X42; Strikefire II 1X30 Red Dot; Spitfire 3X32 Red Dot Tactical; some of the Diamondback models may also fit.  Bushnell also makes a compact series of scopes that will work.  I have no problem with clearance distance for my eye.  You just need a shorter scope - something around 10-11" will work fine.  (PS to Ben - send me my commission!!    )

Thanks Colonel! (the check is in the mail)

Our Mount can be installed with the tang forward for normal scope mounting or tang rearward for short scopes and red dots and such. We haven't come across a scope that could not be mounted properly to allow correct eye relief.

Here's a Redfield Revolution 4-14 X42 I mounted on my special coyote gun in .22 PPC. Plenty of room for the empties to eject without hitting the scope.

BTW Ben, I replaced the Red Dot with a compact Burris 2X7 and it works like a dream.
