I got rid of my unissued Yugo 59/66’s these were the first batch imported after aim offered the ufixem 59’s with the broken safety levers. I kept one refurb unfired 59.

Around 2000 when the import market exploded on Yugos you could find piles of near perfect Yugos for $140-150. So yes, the value has gone up.

I remember those days $149.95 shipped

when i bought my russian i paid $100 for it and 100 rounds, you could buy chinese for $50 back then

What’s a full wooden crate of 7.62x39 FMJ Yugo ammo worth? Never opened.

The last I saw a few weeks ago, A crate Yugo M67 was selling at SG Ammo for close to $700 shipped, if not a little more.

Is it worth it? IMO, no but to someone who hasn't stockpiled, it's worth it to them.

Well I suppose I have to eat this statement I made a little over two years ago in reply #11.

I paid $400 for a new refurb unfired Yugo m59 decades ago. Since no one wanted to buy it for $400 my sons shoot it. The son had a blast shooting it.

I traded a 59/66 and 2 other nice SKS for a LUX FN49 in February at an LGS. They were asking $2400 for the LUX, so that's $800 bucks. I paid $350 for the Yugo here on the boards a few years ago. PAX

I got my 59/66 A1 a couple of years ago for 4 hundred. It was issued, but unused. It came from the Zagreb #2 Police station. Still had their paper property tag on the stock. After about 2 range sessions, the tag was pretty much destroyed, so I took off. I have found that this particular rifle will shoot MOA with Wolf PolyFormance, but nothing else will work as well. I don't see the issue everyone has with non chrome lined barrels. Nothing I own has a chrome bore, and my 103 year old M 1917, and G-11 Schmidt Rubin both stay shiny and clean with normal cleaning.

Was at the pawnshop yesterday and came across a really good shape Yugo still in cosmo for $460. At first I thought "Man, that is too much". Then I looked at the prices of other comparable rifles and after checking here, gunbroker, and a few other sites and realized, it was a "Wow, maybe this is a bargain!"

Didn't come with any accessories or sling, just the rifle. Looked up the serial number and it appears to be from 1970 with the ported GL. It is in much better shape than my 1978 Yugo, but has a few more markings/stamps as well.

Trying to decide if I should leave the cosmo and throw it in the safe for the kids or clean it up and conduct several 'safety test fires' before I do so...my bet would be on the latter.  :)

click SKS and then scroll down to what years was my SKS made. Yugo is at the bottom of the page (alphabetic).

Hope this helps.

So,  Born in 1971 .  Well, cool to know.  I had Kivaari (Tom Prince) do the trigger and with the acquisition of an overpriced milsurp ONM89 I repro'd her into a Bosnian conflict expedient DMR.
