Windage adjustable rear sights for WASR 10
« on: September 30, 2022, 10:10:34 PM »
I saw another post on the same subject here, but it seemed a bit dated since the last post on that thread was in 2019. So I started another current one.

I want to put a RPK type windage adjustable rear sight on a WASR 10 I have. Arsenal makes a really nice one that has painted numbers and painted notches on it, but at $79.99 + shipping + tax it will end up being $100. I don't doubt that it is well made from Arsenal and you get what you pay for, but it is a bit too pricey.

KNS Precision also makes a windage / elevation adjustable peep sight and notch sight. Both of them are $160 + shipping + tax. I don't doubt they are wonderful sights too, but way too much money to put on a WASR.

There aren't a lot of alternatives that are cheaper, but I did find some. A company called Centerfire Systems has two RPK type models at reasonable prices. One for $19.99 and the other for $24.99. Of course they aren't as pretty as the offerings from Arsenal and KNS, but the price is right for a WASR. I was kind of leaning toward the $19.99 model because it is "complete". The more expensive $24.99 model comes missing the sliding elevation barrel. I guess you have to use the one you take off your existing rifle sight. Both models look pretty much identical except for that. The three product reviews on the Centerfire Systems website are mixed. Two says they are good and one says it sucks, but there are few details.

Anyway, my question to the board members is whether anyone here has taken a chance on the Centerfire Systems offerings? I just figured I would get some feedback before I send in an order. The prices seem too good to be true.

From my research the company has an A+ BBB rating and has been around since 1986.

I purchased from Centerfire Systems a lot, but have not for several years now.  I never really had a problem with them.  I also do have an adjustable sight like the ones they're selling on an AK ( a MAK-90) which I couldn't adjust any more with the front.  It works well.   Sorry I can't be of more help.

Like cvasqu03 I have bought a lot of parts and stuff from Centerfire in the past, (back in the kit building golden days), but not recent past, they were always good to deal with.  I don't recall for sure, but I thought the sliders were the same on most European style sights and should work using th old slider.

Mojo also makes peep sights for AKs that are a lot less spendy, I have them, on one myself.
Experience is the hardest kind of teacher, it gives the test 1st and the lesson after.

Stupidity is the same.

BTW, I forgot to add; that price on the windage adjustable rear sights is actually very good.  The last time I priced these, which was admittedly years ago, the best I could find was around $70.  When I saw your post and looked it up I was tempted to order a couple myself just in case.

Centerfire is good to go. I hink any RPK sight should fit. You could also look for Vepr sights but any of them will be pretty similar.
Now if you want something weird, fit a tang sight like from a Sharps on the buttstock tang.
Did you know "SKS" is spelled the same forward and backward
