WSeems my Yugo SKS, on the first cartridge gets jammed against the
interior wall , after I place it into the chamber the rest fire fine..
Am I NOT driving the bolt hard enough, need lube, cleaning ??

Is the tip of the bullet hitting above the chamber or below?

Adjusting the feed lips accordingly may help.

Bending them slightly closer together will bring the tip of the bullet down, spreading them will bring it up. Just cycle the bolt by hand slowly and watch what it's doing.
Doesn't sound like it's off too far if only the first round does it.

You shouldn't have to "jam" anything. Just pull the bolt to the rear position and let it fly home under it's own power.
If you're holding the charging handle when it's going forward, don't.

Some rifles like different ammo. Some have been known to be "fussy" when using HP ammo.

Welcome to Survivors parpat!

BillyBang's got 100% on that but try to find some dummy rounds as to not use LIVE AMMO in testing your gun. dummy rounds have the primers and powder removed so they won't work they feed and look like the real thing till you check the primer. snap caps work the same but for three times the price.

Thanks for clearing that up greywolf187.

I just wasn't thinking that someone would test while sitting in their bedroom or kitchen. But yeah, you gotta think of safety and don't use live ammo anywhere that you don't want an unpleasant surprise. Like inside your house.

At a range with the barrel pointed downrange, live ammo is okay.  :D

ALoha Greywolf187..  My surfin days are over !! hehheeeeee

BillyBang : me thinks the SKS does not have 'lip' unless you modified it to have replacable magazines.
Found out I was holding onto the bolt opening lever, when I just let it go,
worked every time..
I always have a shooter come up to me and ask what type of rifle is that!

Yep, that's the way they're made to work.
After all, when you fire it, you don't have to hold on to it.  8)

Glad you figured it out.

Thanks BillyBang..  guess when the thing worked correctly but 'etting it loose'  I didn't really look carefully at the lips in the permanent magazine..

Who might I email to ask about getting my signup date and posts corrected ?

Does the feeding problems happen with all types of ammo? HAve you switched around between HP, FMJ, SP?
