I see an immediate problem. He didnt use vise blocks or something to possiblly take steps in preventing barrel damage. You can also dremel in a cut using a cutoff wheel and use heat to soften things up. Did this plenty of times in the FALs during barrel removal.
There are bronze covers over the vise jaws they are a lot softer than the barrel, these work great, no marks and grips real tight. We did use heat on the first one we did , and seemed to help, cutoff wheel would be great for a stubborn receiver. sure is nice to feel it crack loose
