What would you consider a good deal for once-fired, uncleaned .223 brass right now? I have an offer for .09 apiece if I buy 500 minimum.

I just paid $165 for 1000 new unprimed Lake City shipped and that was a good price. Some places are over $200 and most others are out of stock.
Once I get home home I'll send you a few links. But $90 per 1000 is going to be a good price if it's good brass.  The best I can think of right now was $6 per 100 plus shipping for the brass you described.

Gotcha. Just a few minutes ago I got an offer of 500 rds for $40 (.08 a casing). I think I'm gonna go with this one.

I just wanted to make sure I was in an acceptable ballpark and wasn't getting robbed or low-balling anyone. I haven't had to buy brass in over a year.

I think it's worth clarifying exactly what you are going to get before it's easy to gage whether it's a good deal or not....

Are they miscellaneous headstamp Mil-spec brass?  Machine gun fired or rifle fired or all of the above?
Defective cases sorted out?
Cleaned?
Decapped?
Primer pockets processed for military crimp and proper primer depth?
FL Sized through a small base die?
Trimmed to length and deburred?

I would personally pay the teeny bit extra for all the above services to be performed...  Doing the primer pockets yourself on 500 rounds will only cost you a couple bucks extra - but it would take you the better part of a week of evenings....  Same for FL sizing with a small base die....

Thanks

No, they are all mixed brass and not prepped. the guy I bought them from is a member of the local range all the PDs train at, which is where he gets his brass. So this is all rifle fired.

I did about 100 or so last night. Some are crimped primers and struggled in the die, but only about 1 out of 20. I pop the primers before tumbling because I am using a water mixture. I also purchased a universal trimmer last night so that should speed things up. I had been doing them by hand until now.

So far the crimped primers, while harder to remove, are still uniform in shape with the regular brass so priming won't be an issue. I have had lots before where almost every damn casing had to be reamed and yes that gets VERY tedious.

I sell range brass at $20 plus $10.95 shipping for 500 pcs. (4 cents each plus shipping).  I just sold my last batch but will have more in about 2 weeks.  Give me a shout if you need some.
