The gray Zombie Killer is ALIVE!
« on: August 14, 2014, 11:28:25 PM »
Hey all, its been a long time in the works but I finally got a hold of a SKS-S that fits into the stock beautifully! I want to give a huge thank you again to Bill and Tapco for donating this one of a kind beauty and to Ranger for holding his bi-annual shoots which made this possible.

I also want to give a huge thank you to my zombie killing partner in crime 40Below for helping me every step of the way and to MrCoinRing for guiding me through the handguard swap.

So without further delay, enjoy pics of the most beautiful rifle I now own ;)

Thanks MCR. I am definitely keeping it as an heirloom to be passed down the generations. Providing that when I do kick the bucket, I dont try to take it with me first lol.

Very cool. I REALLY like the look of the gray laminate.

Thanks Tornfeather and -40!

I can't wait to take it to the range. With as tight of a fit as the stock is, it should be very accurate.

Wow, I reeeeaaaaaaaly like that gray one! 40's green one is wicked cool and very bold but that gray one just has a subtle, ominous, stealthy coolness to it.

You should see it in person; the finish and the detail is incredible.... 8)

Thanks Carl ;)

Ranger speaks the truth. Pictures do not do the stock justice. It is simply breathtaking.

When I first held it, I thought it was made from a sturdy plastic/polymer because it's incredibly smooth to the touch. I've never felt a wood stock that is that smooth an well finished.

Tapco truly did an amazing job with the timbersmith line.

I do have one question though. When I had a SKS that had a ATI monte carlo stock (I didn't like that stock but it came with the rifle) I had trouble getting my eye low enough for the iron sights. The monte carlo seems better suited for optics. How do the Timbersmith monte carlos do with just the iron sights?

Thanks everyone!

Carl, from what I can see the iron sights are perfectly visible. I hope to take it to the range sometime this week and will update with a range report.
