I see you got that bayonet off. Was the rivet hard to remove?

Not at all. It seems the previous owner had bubbad it a little and I was able to push the rivet out by hand. The rivet was a NOS rivet that wasn't even flared so it required ZERO pressure.

The ferrule was severely ground down as well by the previous owner. I was able to push the rivet on that with my pinky nail and then pulled it out by hand on the other side.

I installed a new rivet on the hand guard and fused the rivet head with what's left of the ferrule as I am worried at how little "meat" was left.

Awesome stock and rifle dude, nice job! Did you enjoy the hand guard fitting?  Mine was a P-I-T-A! It took me around 3 hours to fit the entire stock. I can't wait to go shoot mine hopefully this week and try it out.  :)

Thanks :)

The fitting was indeed a challenge but the rifle is in nice and tight. There isn't even room to glass bed it. The handguard when installed is nice a tight. When removed from the rifle, the handguard has a little play to it.

It definitely took a few hours. Having the proper tools would have made it much faster.

Yep, mine is the same. But it is rock solid when it's installed. I actually had to drill the pins in mine (pins on the handguard) just a tad deeper to make the gas tube seat all the way down. Even after all that, I had to shave the spot on the gas tube where the takedown lever thingy rides upon the tube. It would not go down without filing it a bit. Although, the gas tube on this rifle has always been super tight fitting anyways so it needed it. :)

It is funny I started thinking about that stock you won while I was watching an episode of ZNATION last Friday. I wish you could make an appearance in the series one of these weeks! LOL

Thanks MCR. I am definitely keeping it as an heirloom to be passed down the generations. Providing that when I do kick the bucket, I don't try to take it with me first lol.

Jason bourne;

I just want to let You know that if You decide to take the Gray Zombie killer with You, I will stand by Your Wishes, by donating the first $100 towards the pine shipping crate they plant U in and the 500 pound of cosmoline to fill said box and You with. I just want You to know Brother, We will take great care of You. Because We care.

Thank you, it means a lot to me :)

At least if I come back as the zombie, the cosmoline will slow me down lol

Lol I need to spend more time in the retail/business section. This thread is about 6 weeks old and I am just seeing it.

Guys the pictures do not do any justice. I've seen it in person at the range with JB and it is amazing. Definitely a heirloom and a headturner.

I wish both Jason and 40Below's rifles could make an appearance in a zombie movie! I think they would fit in real well :)
I could just see some poor hitchhiker fighting for his life with an axe or bat and have Jason drive up and save the day with his SKS zombie killer!

Hell, id be happy just to have the two rifles in the same place at the same time. That would mean I get to shoot with -40.

If it was a end of the world type show I could totally see the two zombie timbersmiths and the red 666 SKS (I forgot who was the owner??) just tearing the flesh eaters apart.
