Timbersmith stocks- still around?
« on: September 23, 2015, 08:16:00 PM »
I'm a little late into the game but I have to ask.
The brown Timbersmith Monte Carlo stocks... They are out of production?
I can only find the black ones for the SKS.

Just to comment,

I stuck the gun into the Timbersmith stock that I had received over a month ago.

The fit is tight,  but there are lots of "gaps" around the barrel and magazine opening.

The LoP and comb are PERFECT for my 6 foot frame.   Very comfortable.

Not having that pesky side of stock sling fitting is worth the swap!  ;-)  I put a flush mount fitting in the more "conventional" position on the bottom.
That position makes a much more secure Hasty Sling as well.  Tension across the chest and all that.

Black or brown,  If you are a 6 footer,  the TS stock will be a good fit.

Man, I'm 5'7" and with the 2" spacer on my chi com stock I'm still in danger of hitting my eyepro with the back of the receiver when I shoot prone (that's why the tech sights came off). I hope the timbersmith works as well as you say for me.
Tho I have noticed that another gun (not an SKS) I have with a shorter length of pull stock actually does better for me in the consistent cheek weld department, maybe it's total design over just strictly length.

I also had the thick spacer/ recoil pad  It was still cramped.

With the TS laminate stock,  I can still creep up on the rear aperture,  but I find the natural position is several inches away.  Ample for the recoil.

A firm pull into the shoulder pocket takes me right into "nose on steel" territory.  And I like it!   ;-)
