And i thought those louisiana boys were pretty hard at reloading. Them Florida boys are brutal.
When the SHTF you better already have it at hand, because it won't be on the shelves when you get to the Wal-Mart land.

There's something not right there. Smokeless powder doesn't explode, it just burns very hot.  I couldn't see any details in the news stories, but my guess is that somehow he was mishandling primers.  A box of primers would explode like a grenade, and if it was near the powder that might have contributed to the explosion.

Always keep primers and powder separated. Heard a few stories over the years about primers being detonated accidentally while reloading. Some systems are safer than others, IMO.

my old house had a "shotgun blast" looking set of holes in the ceiling above my reloading bench from when one of the primers in my primer tube detonated... scared the piss out of me and my "shop kitty" who lays on my lap while i reload... i dont use cci primers anymore...

To get an "explosion" from smokeless powder he would have to drop a lit cigarette inside a can of powder.  I call BS, poor reporting, ignorance, or some other explanation not being reported by the guy who should have known better.
