Daniel Penny

Anyone else following this? I have sort of casually kept my ears perked when I saw they were heading for trial.

IMO even if he choked him out, it was justified.  Turns out he was not choked out, but died after police took him in custody.

But the fact that as of now its a hung jury just disgusts me at the state of this nation now.

Penny was never malicious, but the perpetrator was that caused him to intervene.  Unbelievable. And New Yorkers wonder why they are despised by normal people.

Jury hung on the manslaughter, so it was dismissed, then they let them recess for the weekend.  Monday they resume to decide if to convict him on negligent homicide, all the while media trying to influence them, what a bunch of ****.

Technically the media shouldn't be able to as they're not allowed to watch anything to do with the case.

How its supposed to work and does are different things, and its obvious there is leaning in feelings against him already, or they would have acquitted.

I think I read there are two attorneys on this jury.
Don't know if that has any bearing but it would concern me.
It just seems that New York has strange conceptions of justice.

If Superman and the Lone Ranger lived in New York, they'd be in prison.

Any single juror can make or break you depending on how persuasive they are. I've managed to turn deliberations within a sentence before. Jurors are human, most are there to weigh on the facts. Some are there to push an agenda sadly. Each juror brings their own real world knowledge as well as bias.

Unless the defendants name is Donald Trump.

His jury was told they didn't need a consensus and didn't need to convict on all charges.

Some states do not require unanimous consensus. That said, the judge stated something completely different.

Quote
?Although you must conclude unanimously that the defendant conspired to promote or prevent the election of any person to a public office by unlawful means, you need not be unanimous as to what those unlawful means were,?

Meaning if you thought Trump was guilty of interference if he asked a mob to show up, it counts. And if I thought he was guilty when he addressed the crowd telling them to fight the process of allowing electoral college votes to go through we'd both agree he did something to stop the election, just different actions and thus was guilty.

Should not have even come down to this nail biter, but at least he is exonerated, and I believe most if not all the legal costs are covered for him.

Completely agree. He shouldn't have been on trial.

Now, he faces a civil trial.

That he shouldn't be facing either.

The silver lining here is he had the criminal trial, so that will help some in the civil case.

Yeah, but it is NYC, and its a lot easier to convince a civil trial jury he owes something than a criminal jury he was guilty.  I hope he has a good lawyer.

I heard the current BLM Mouth of Sauron spokesperson spew on and on about Penny being a neo-KKK and the race card rhetoric about Blacks being targeted. He also made threats that perhaps the Black community should to the same to Whites. Al Sharpton also added his usual lies.

I've come to the conclusion all radicals hate life, seeking martyrdom, by instigating a civil war they know they cannot win should it goes down. Like death by cop writ large. Perhaps they believe they will earn eternal fame with their face graffiti'd on ghetto walls like George Floyd.
