Length of sear engagment surface.
« on: January 08, 2008, 12:42:35 PM »
Okay, SKS sear on a Chicom.

If your sear engagment surface has positive engagment angle,
what is the recommended minimum length you should have for the hammer to "catch" on,
before it drops off and fires (when the sear is fully positioned to the rear).

I usually fit hammers/sears so that the length is a short as possible and I can still visibly see the hammer's travel rearward. This is the minimal acceptable creep that discloses the quality of the engagement and weight of the pull. I want to see the hammer movement albeit minimal...not quite faster than the naked eye?
