/UPDATE
Hi all. As many of you are aware, I currently machine a stainless extended mag release for the SKS. At the time of development it was just a one off custom for me personally that I had never intended to sell, or at least not to the magnitude that it has. In my haste to create a cool custom for myself I never had the chance to design one for the masses. Well, that is changing right now.
I am tweaking the current design to be a full universal fit for ALL models of the SKS. The current version fits milled trigger groups perfectly as I had intended, but many of the stamped options got unintentionally left behind due to clearance issues. The new design will remedy that, and that's where I need/want some help. I would like 2 volunteers that would be willing to install one of the universal fit releases on a STAMPED GROUP and take it to the range. The item will be FREE, I just want some detailed feedback from you after some use. If that sounds good then here are the details of how this will work:
-Since I respect a lot of the members on here, I have no real good way to select people for this process, so I will be using pictures. Send a close up of the STAMPED Trigger group you will be using to test with to eegould@vermontcnc.com and I will pick the two that look like they will be the best test for the release. If you have a TG that is extra thick, or very unique that would be the one to submit for consideration.
-Your expectations are to install the release on the stamped TG you sent the pics of and use it at least once. After use I will need an email with all of your thoughts on the item and it's performance, as well as a few pics of the release installed for our website.
-Once the testing has been completed the release is yours at no cost to you. These will be the polished stainless versions. If in the event that there is some issue with fitment on the prototype items you receive, both testers will get a new version of the finalized product, also for free.
I think that's it. The blueprints are being redrafted right now, so the 2 universal versions should be ready by mid week next week. I will make a decision on applicants after I have them packaged and ready to ship.
As a side note, if anyone has any suggestions for the release that I can implement prior to the machining next week just post it up. I can't say that I will be able to make everyone's ideas come to life in one universal application, but we can give it a try! And just to add the info before it gets asked, yes, once these are finalized they will also be available in plain steel for bluing! I already have the material here ;)

It would be a pleasure to test another incarnation of Your mag release. After only one tweak the first one works great.

I just sent my stamped trigger group off to Tom for some of his magic so I'll have to wait for a production version. After seeing the high quality of your original extended safety I'll certainly be in the first line for the new version when its ready for release.

Thanks for the quick replies. Keep the pics coming. It will be about a week before I pick the testers. Thanks.

Preliminary results are in!
Naturally I have done as much testing here as I can with what I have available. I have fitted the universal release to both stamped groups and milled groups with 100% success. The design differences are so subtle that at a quick glance they look identical to the previous version. I am very pleased so far, and as long as the testers find equal success I will begin production of the universal version within a few weeks.
As for tester selection, I have several sets of pics to go over. I will be deciding tonight who it will be and will contact the two selected directly. Once they have completed their testing I will post up all of the findings.
