MN in the news yet again...not in a good way.

Two LEOs and a paramedic killed in a standoff with someone who wasn't supposed to be able to own firearms . . . they're already calling for more gun control.

So when gun control fails the answer is more gun control? My guess is he bought his firearms illegally which we all know gun control won’t resolve.
How about keep career criminals away from the general population?

I'm a firm believer that most everyone deserves a second chance. However, this particular guy unsuccessfully attempted to restore his firearm rights in 2020. So the system works sometimes, as it correctly deemed him not yet deserving of that chance.
I would assume that the LEOs prematurely entered the home . . . unless they thought the kids were in imminent danger. We'll have to wait for the investigation to finish up to know one way or the other.
Either way, I'm told the semi-auto firearm ban making it's way through the MN legislature just got a big boost . . .

The big media outlets here are all asking "How could this guy get firearms, since he was prohibited?" With lots of folks saying "we need laws to prevent this from ever happening again." Folks are too stupid to understand that multiple laws were already broken. Just happened to see part of the Governors news conference. He's already raging against "ghost guns", despite zero evidence (at this time) that such a firearm was used. :banghead:
The newscast also mentioned the current five year felony for the seller in a private sale, should the buyer be prohibited and then use the firearm in a crime within a year. FYI: That's why for years nobody with half a brain did private sales without the getting a copy of the buyer's DL and CC Permit. I pity whoever sold him the firearms . . . they will certainly make a scapegoat out of them, since the perp is dead.
No problem with that last one as MN now bans "private party sales" . . . unless of course you use the State's approved form and keep it for ten years, in addition to requiring getting the DL & CC permit copies. More paperwork, for no real gain. Just another law criminals will ignore anyway . . . oh, and they will certainly make scapegoats out of any private sellers who can't produce such records "on demand of law enforcement".
