Even More Craziness Here In MN
LESchwartz:
Six individuals entered a high school basketball game and assaulted one of the players -- yes, you read that right, it was during the game. Did they think nobody was going to notice? Five of them were apprehended later that evening . . . BRILLIANT!

My wife was saying that with everybody and their dog having a smart phone these days, the police should have no problem getting plenty of video of this incident . . .

Onepoint:
Craziness is everywhere it seems. Had a guy, who was a city postal carrier get mad at his husband/boyfriend, drove his car into a bridge abutment at 70mph a couple days ago. This in a town of about 1500 people.
A 15 year old kid was stabbed by 2 other older kids on a regular subdivision street, and died a couple nights before that, in a town of 8k, and had a shooting murder in the same town also recently, there have been more, but these stand out being recent, and these are the ones just within a 1/2 hour of me in rural NE.
The last few years have seen more murders, assaults and even kidnappings than in the 30 I have been around here, some from out of staters, many from local people related to drugs, and its not like we have significant population increase or anything to attribute it to.
And it's much much worse on all the Indian reservations I hear.
LESchwartz:
--- Quote ---Locals say complex social issues of poverty and substance abuse drive the city?s crimes. Bemidji?s 21% poverty rate is more than twice the state average, and Beltrami County also has among the state?s highest overdose rates. When looking at the three reservations that surround the city ? White Earth, Red Lake and Leech Lake ? those communities experience even higher rates of poverty and overdoses.
--- End quote ---
I've been thinking of moving outstate when I retire. I've been told to avoid the Bemidji area, which has the highest crime rate in Minnesota: https://www.startribune.com/whats-behind-bemidjis-high-crime-rate/601207249
Typical big city problems aren't confined to the big cities anymore: Poverty and substance abuse are driving even the smallest communities into the dumpster.
