Any one have experience with the Ultimak forearms?
Onepoint:
As with the ARs I have, I have one heck of a time paying 1/2 or in this case as much as what I did for the rifle, for a handguard. But I have become and believer of the metal railed forearms for combat style weapons. Modularity is a key design feature of every late generation weapon system.
Anyone have one of the Ultimak railed handguards? Any thoughts?
I see there is another on the market also, looks the same as the Ultimak short rail but costs 1/2 as much.
UR:
I just took these photos of my unfinished .223 Saiga sporting the Ultimak forearm:

I was surprised at how light the unit is. It wasn't half as heavy as I expected it to be. My intentions with this application are to have an all-around PDW, which is why I chose to go with this rail setup. IMO, other AK rail systems just don't have the flexiblity as the Ultimak, especially when you consider the placement of grips, bipods, lights, etc. Well worth the money if it's in your budget.
Toad:
Onepoint, you got a site for the second one? Ultimak is too damn expensinve IMO. And the TDI upper/lower "isn't doing it" for me. I like that second one.
Onepoint:
That one is off gunbroker, but these are the same people selling them, still 100 bucks, plus shipping.

I thought I remember someone here talking about them, Thats not fair, I want to be special like everyone else and put one on my Saiga 223 too. :D
Did you get that from Blackjack Buffers?
If you dont mind I am going to save those for reference. In fact if I could get you to get one dead on sideways so I can mess around photo shopping it on mine for giggles? I would be indebted.
Onepoint:
BTW, read a thread on AR15.com that mentioned Midwest Industries who makes AR-15 rails is developing one for the AK. They tend to have pretty decent stuff that isn't overly outrageous in price.
