ATF dealings?

I figured this was as good a place as any to park this. I am "thinking/considering contacting the ATF and inquiring IF I can get my adapters manufactured "out of the USA". I keep hearing, "pennies on the dollar", if I do. Also, inquire if I can ship to Canada. However, I am a bit nervous to open that door to them. Any suggestions guys?

I wrote them a letter years ago to ask if it was OK to use extended MasterMolder AK mags on an unconverted Saiga (I'd noticed that the design of these mags didn't include the dip at the front just like Saiga mags so they'd function in a Saiga even if it didn't have a bullet guide). I Got back a somewhat formulaic response saying that to use extended mags you needed to reduce the parts count, which I'd already done anyway (the bullet guide was the last thing I needed to do so I tested the mags before doing so).  It was mostly an academic exercise, so it wasn't that important what they said, I just wanted to share any info with a Saiga forum I was on.  I never heard from them again.  They're a regulatory agency, not a law enforcement agency, and though law enforcement is  part of their work, their job is very Bureaucratic.  So long as you're not admitting to doing anything illegal, I doubt they'd be going after you.

You will run the risk of them showing up to shoot the dog and drive a tank through your front door then tell you it’s your fault that they ran you over in your living room.
