SKS Plate Carrier
« on: July 01, 2013, 08:22:38 PM »
Well the SKS plate carrier has begun. Came in today.

Made in the USA TAG (Tactical Assault Gear) plate carrier for $118 from lapolicegear.com with free shipping. Pretty good deal. Feels like a solid vest. Love the Ranger green.

E. German grenade pouches are my pick of choice. The clips on the back clip securely on to the molle but will be further tightened down with zip ties.

Plates are on their way. Knife is just for show.

Nice plan with the pouches.  I have a couple of those, too.
I'd rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6.

I found out that the US Molle II Flashbang gernade pouches will hold apx 50 rounds of ammo on stripper clips quite nicely!! But, will the webbing hold up for long on the vest, since there is only strap securing it to the vest?
i don't own a makarov anymore.

The vest is made pretty solid. I can't see anything I think would be a problem, but only time will tell

I got my plates in

At 17 pounds the thing isn't really that heavy. I mean I'm a thick guy at 6' 194 pounds, but still.

Been wearin it around the house and you just get used to it.

I've actually switched to a tapco stock and mags, so I've ordered some pouches from strike hard gear

Fill the pouches with magazines and ammo. Add an mre or two. Throw a water buffalo on your back filled wit water. Go outside in the heat and work 10-12 hrs. Let us know how it feels after doing that for a minimum of several months. ;)

I've got a IOTV for sale with all 4 green sapi plates if you want to get in to a good quality budget setup.

Basically this sans the extra gear.

That's a nice rig man. I'm just pretty contempt about my set up. Just need another strike hard gear mag pouch and a few clip pouches.

Hey are those M16 type pouches or AK 47 pouches? I have some duckbills also and they look like they fit well in those pouches.

They're pouches specifically for the sks duckbill mag made by strikhardgear. Www.strikehardgear.com they run about $25. I'd sell you my 3 for $45.

I put my duckbills in a 6"x 6" 5.11 Tactical molle pouch. Fits 2 maybe 3. Same size as their first-aid pouch. I also use the East German grenade pouches. Each slot will hold 20 rounds in their boxes (times 3).

Like rbl2 said. The only way to find out how your gear fits and works is to strap up and test it outside. Either way you have a nice setup going on. I'd invest in a belt with suspenders or put a dump pouch on it to retain mags or stripper clips.
