What did you do to prep today?
« on: April 04, 2015, 10:06:13 PM »
I made some recent purchases on Amazon in the last few months.  Here are the links to my purchases.  Used hotel points to get Amazon gift cards for most purchases, so these were almost all freebies, one was a gift.  8)

Nice little toss around flashlight for the drawers, these were about $2.50 when I ordered them.  Bought 3 of them.  What I like is that they run a single AA.  I'm trying to consolidate all my flashlights on AA and AAA, preferably single AA or AAA.

Sawyer mini, bought two of them

Carbon filter for Sawyer mini

Becker BK9

Becker BK22, link is to the Becker BK2 because it is the same as the BK22 but comes with a kydex sheath and is $20 cheaper, the BK22 has a nylon sheath which I preferred.

Weed Razr, this was a Christmas gift from my mom, for cutting the water locust at my pond
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JVVXFQ0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Kobalt landscape rake also for algae skimming at the pond (used Lowes gift card for this one).  I attached a pool noodle and rope to the handle to make a surface skimmer  8)

Just purchased these today.

CCW manpurse, supposed to be a pretty decent copy of the Maxpedition Versipack, reviews are pretty favorable
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002BJBIRW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Husqvarna Carpenters Axe for work at my property

Machete sheath for my Ontario 1-18 to replace my milsurp canvas one with a liner I rigged out of old vinyl siding

I got my couple of Russian AK 40 rounders in. Cleaned my vepr and sks. Made sure the ARs and AKs all had loaded 30 round mags. Checked my gas mask seal. Restocked my medical pouch.

Went Hammocking  I guess the Eno hammock system could be a prep

The sun has stayed out long enough melting the mountains of snow exposing the area where I want to build a large vegetable garden and a possible green house. I looked at the stack of 4X4's that I am going to lay it out with and decided they looked too heavy to deal with today so I went and had a nice lunch and took a nap with my kids.

That was the extent of today's prepping.

Ordered a Husqvarna hatchet AND a few hundred rounds of match grade .22lr at decent prices for small game hunting if/when necessary.  I like the "make every shot count" mantra so I rarely "plink"; I prefer to shoot with a purpose.

I plowed.  OK its not the prep you have in mind but its prep. :)

Its a double edged sword, so be careful what you wish for. ;)

Received some things in the mail today to complete my AR build. Sling, sling mount, rail covers. I'll have my buffer tube assembly in another day or 2 and I will be able to complete the build. Need to buy some mags and more ammo next.

My prep group will be having a basic pistol class coming up in a couple weeks but I think I will watch the kids so my wife can go. She needs it a lot more than I do.

Every day at our house is taking care of livestock. Breeding, raising and milking our goats, breeding and raising our chickens for eggs and we recently added a duck. My wife makes new batches of goat milk soap a few times a week. She has developed quite the local following for her soap. I'm in charge of stocking up on lye and giving her the go-ahead to buy more soap making materials and aids.

Most of our prepping has to do with developing a more self-sufficient lifestyle. We plan on living this way whether things stay the same or if things go bad. We need to improve on our water and gas storage.
