Friend of mine says that the Sub2000 9mm that takes S&W mags are hard to find - back ordered/out of stock everywhere.

On the Gen 1 Sub 2000 as long as it was not the Glock version it could be converted to fire any of the other models could be changed.  It's a $7 part from the company. if you are handy can do it with youtube videos or any  gun smith should have been able to do it. That's why glocks are usually the ones to sell out because it that or nothing. I don't know if the Gen 2 have that functionality. I can't buy them in NY. Mine in Beretta was grandfathered when I registered  it.

    :(

Yeah, registering, bunch of BS, we have that in CT too. I would have had to register my Sub2000 here if I had kept it and they can't be purchased here anymore. I decided to sell my AR rather than register it (it was ok but not my favorite gun anyway) and those cannot be purchased here either. My SKS Sporter didn't need to be registered since I took the thumbhole stock off of it so I will hang onto that. Hopefully I will be out of CT in a few years and I just hope wherever we go we it won't turn into a nanny state once we get there. We like Maine but I fear anywhere in NE is destined to turn full commie before long.

It was a really tough call I did not want to register it but I really like the gun.  Its my main home defense gun and for where I live feel it is good choice as a bug out gun as well.  If I can ever get a pistol permit It will pair nicely. So I really did not want to sell it.  I was in a shop a couple of weeks ago and I saw a guy sell a Berretta Storm in 9mm that was not registered and he only got 250 for it. Granted his brother gave it to him but still that is a really low price.  I obviously did not want to register the gun.  I believe in civil disobedience when you feel a law is unjust, however, the other part of that is passively accepting the consequence.  In New York its up the prosecuting DA discretion as to go for a misdemeanor or felony weapons charge.  I'm a CPA if I'm convicted of a felony I loose my license and my livelihood.  I could not take that chance.

  It's the law of the land there, you are gonna have to follow it, for sure;

  I just hate it that you have to do it.  :(

I read a article a couple years ago that stated that the Beretta mag well the hardest to find for the S2K.  I can't remember where I read it, so take it as you will.  The S2K is hard to find at least in my local.  I'm hanging on to mine.

I know that you guys in the nanny states are between a rock and a hard place.  And we all know that registration always leads to confiscation.

I have the S&W grip to interchange mags with my P-11, but I also have the mag catch kit to use Beretta mags.

Cool stuff.  Do you know if the same catch will work on the Taurus PT 92?  It's suppose to be a Beretta clone, but I've found that the notch on the magazine is a little wider than the Beretta.

I don't know for sure, but I would assume the Taurus mags would need to be modified, I also have a PT-92 but have the Sub2K set up for S&W and never put in the Beretta catch.

I asked the same question on the Kel tec forum and they said it can be done with modifications to the grip/mag well and the mag.  I looked into if it could be made to fit Springfield XDM mags its been done.  I would not trust my self to do them the modifications to the grip/mag well.

You only have to modify the mags not the grip/magwell.  It's the location of the mag catch that differentiates Taurus PT-92 mags from Beretta, other than that, they are virtually identical.

My friend with the S&W 9mm Sub2000 says that he would sell his in the original box for $350 plus shipping to an FFL if anyone is interested.
