Romanian SKS

I have a chance to buy a Romanian SKS for 350. What would I look for to make sure it is correct and is 350 a good deal?

Yes! Even if not matching a $350 is a great deal. Make sure it is operational, and all the parts are there.

If its a #'s matching rifle, including the stock, 350 is a steal! Most Rommys will have a well worn and sanded down stock with no visible #'s, except for a small [01434] behind the rear of the receiver cover. The rear sight leaf should be blued and have the roman numeral I. On the bayonet there should be a letter "C" where the blade ends. In the lightning cut on the bolt carrier there should be a 2 digit number like "32" but upside down. On the barrel lug which is a long lug, there should be a (K) and also on the receiver forward end by the barrel lug. You should see the (K) on both sides of the lug and receiver. The barrel crown should be blued with a sharp beveled inside edge in the white. On the front side of the front sight base below the sight post, there should be one or two numbers visible, like "10". On the rear tang of the trigger group there should be the number "6" or "9". Bolt carrier and bolt should be in the white. Thats all the visible markings and identifiers without having to take the rifle apart. I have not seen a romanian that was BBQ'ed, but it is possible. Hope this helps.
When the SHTF you better already have it at hand, because it won't be on the shelves when you get to the Wal-Mart land.

Good price even if forced or mismatched, which most specimens are. PAX

I would echo the feedback on the price. If matching, 350 is a steal, and in my opinion is not bad even if not. I bought a matching one in a rough stock for a bit more than that a few weeks ago and thought I got a good deal, personally. I would jump on it if you want one.

Great info Dino, I have one coming as well and will keep this handy upon inspection. Thanks!
