Anyone do Flashlight LED conversions?

Wow. This section turned into a ghost-town.

I have a few old Mag Lights and some of those cold-war era, surplus flash lights I bought at CTD 20 years ago. Has anyone tried the LED "replacement bulb" for these kinds of flash lights? I'm hesitant of blindly buying a few bulbs on Amazon...as with LED anything, for the 1 good product that works, there are 100 garbage units being imported from the labor camps.

I have a 4D Maglight that I put one of the LED conversions in.
They have much better emitters now though. 
With 4 brand new Alkaline D cells here is what it looks like compared to my Secret Santa F18.

I a 3 D cell mag-lite converted to one that I got at Sears when the store closed here, does fairly well.

I think this was at 5 yards onto a 4x8 sheet of plywood.
The 4D Maglight is OK.
I had to cut the camera exposure to take that picture.

Any brand/model names on those bulbs?

No.  Bought years back as the 'Official' Maglight upgrade.
The Maglight does have clobbering value
I've got a red 6 cell around someplace with the same LED conversion. 

They do make kits for the Maglight that use modern LEDs and reflector assemblies.

I've got a few clone, Chinese, projector HID assemblies, bought on clearance.
Thinking about making a sealed housing and putting one on the boat
Take the cutoff gate out and 'high' beam is pretty bright. 
Of course the $5 HID bulbs are crap and would have to be replaced every couple of years.
