Celebrate what we are supposed to be, if our rulers would just read that and follow the system that was created from it, things would look entirely different now. But today we don't lament that, we honor the idea people govern themselves, and the blood and cost it took to put that to practice. And how serious and pertinent to their lives it was that they saw that?
" The time is now near at hand which must probably determine whether Americans are to be freemen or slaves; whether they are to have any property they can call their own; whether their houses and farms are to be pillaged and destroyed, and themselves consigned to a state of wretchedness from which no human efforts will deliver them.
