Deal of century: My Norinco Type 84S-1 = $300

Well, I don't come upon these types of things often, but I stumbled on one of those
"just can't pass up" kinda deals yesterday. Distant relative wanted to dump off his "odd caliber AK"
for a little cash. He had to have no less than what he paid for it, which must of been 20 years ago, 'cause he was firm at $300.
Who am I to argue with a distant Uncle?? 

At first sight, I thought, "cool, an underfolder", then I glance over it and think, "sweet, a Norinco".
Then I ask how much, and my next thought was, "SOLD!!!!" Of course I didn't shout it at him with
that much enthusiasm, but I let him know I was very interested. And after a quick five minute run to the nearest ATM, it was mine!!

Very nice! If it is as soft shooting as my 5.56 AK it will feel like a 22. Good buy.

Some of those had a really poor firing pins that broke due to bad tempering.KVAR made a replacement pin for them but there pretty out of stock on them.Called them for one of our board members who picked one up.They only brought in a few thousand of them in this caliber.I think AK74 mags will work but wont hold 30rds.

You sir are what they call a bastard. Good deal.

As terry mentioned, some of these can have a soft firing pin. Keep an eye on it, especially for deforming at the head, as it can allow a fragmented primer to enter the bolt - something you are probably familiar with being an SKS owner.

One question, is the spring loaded FP common?
Just never really seen many AKs with a spring loaded FP.

A local pawn shop had one of these underfolders NIB with the all the accessories a couple of years ago priced at $1250 for over a year.  Walk in one day and they had it priced at $650.  I was flat broke at the time and could not scrounge up enough cash to put it on layaway.  A little time later I went in with enough to put it on layaway and it was gone.
