I didn't read every post in this thread so maybe this has been mentioned. What are the odds one of the US's enemies would use the chaos of a revolt to attack the mainland? And what are the chances they would leave the revolters alone and go after the Feds, or just hit everyone? Just as France was crucial to our first revolution, I'd expect outside help would determine the success of another.
Of course, they probably wouldn't walk away when it's all over and ugliness will continue.
