I only have 4 long guns and its a hassle to move 'em. Takes 2 trips for the guns plus 1 trip for 2 Ammo boxes. If it was the SHFT I would arm everyone in my family. I get the SKS, brother gets 91/30, Dad gests remmington 870 and mom gets winchester 190 .22 semiauto rifle. When I get my ruger gp-100 (.357 mag) I will carry that in a holster

It all depends on the situation. If the power goes out for a couple weeks, I can stick that out and leave everything where it's at. Complete terrorist attack? I may grab my main ones and get out leaving everything else here. I carry my sidearm almost always, so I will say that I have it with me. I keep my bugout bag in my truck, or the vehicle I'm in, so I will have that too. But I would need to get four long arms out, the two AKs, the AR, and the shotgun. No matter what I would need atleast one AK or else I would be useless to defend myself, and to our little group.  :(  I have thought about always keeping the underfolder with me at all times, but I think for the most part the liability is too much. While at work my truck is in sight at all times, but what about all the other places I go? I can't leave one at the cabin, it's too far out there that if anyone broke in, no one else would notice. It could be days or weeks before I could make it back up there and by then the gun could be anywhere. :? Another problem is that I work about twenty minutes (on a good day) from where my guns are, but that is in the wrong direction of where I need to get to, inorder to meet the rest of our group! :x  This could be bad now that I think about it. :?

Equipment that can't be carried is to be hidden, if time permits, for possible future retrieval. If time doesn't permit, equipment that can't be carried is to be destroyed.

The best way to move them during SHTF is to scatter & bury them during peacetime.

I keep my long guns (4) in a parachutist's drop case (~$20) inside the safe. It holds them all and can be thrown on like a backpack. I think you could actually pack a few more into one of these things. Then you just need to have someone tote the ammo box and beanie-weenies.

Only thing about burying them: Make damn sure they're sealed up good, and remember - savy post-EOTW scavengers will have metal detectors and shovels (at least I do...)

Not a problem for some of us. There is almost no situation short of a tidal wave that would lead to a bug out. Nowhere to go. The house and the nieghbors are about as safe a place as I can find. Makes it easy, fill the house and barn to the roof and defend as long as we can.

I think that long term survival means finding some land... hopefully yours, and between hunting, gathering and tilling, working it for food.

Start a group of friends and relatives now.  Then if that time comes, pass one to everyone.  Also if you can get them enthusiastic enough they will buy ammo too.  Don't forget essentials like belts and GOOD slings.  A great nylon sling costs about 15-20 bucks, buy a couple spares (hard to find those nylon buckles when there ain't no power).

a good thick belt is an essential.  The web belts are fine but leather is much easier to wear and can be repaired with cow hide.

The only things I am worried about bringing are my 10/22 and my 12 guage.  the rest are just cream on top.  The FAL and SKS are gonna come with me but if I can only take what I can carry it is the .22 and 12 guage.

Also, if you are packing a rifle, get a muzzle cover.  sucks to have to clean out mud from inside your barrel if you need that rifle in a hurry.  In a pinch, a condom works fine on the barrel.

Again the best thing is to ensure you have several people inyour party and give each one firearm and at least a .22 pistol.  You can get Phoenix arms .22's for around 100 bucks each.  www.jgsales.com has Model 10 S&W .38 revolvers for 169 each.

Good Luck and SHTF is not likely to happen.  Be prepared but don't neglect other responsibilities.
