I`ve recently joined because this site is for sks`s and I recently acquired a nice 1949 with no refurb markings. Yes I introduced myself.
Last year I got a Chinese type81 and rebuilt it as an AK-esque platform as we here in Canada can`t own AK`s anymore, in fact when our commie gov`t decided that, I let my AK collection go, don`t like deactivated wall hangers, they`re useless and only serve as hateful reminders.
Any way a few months ago I haggled over a cosmo packed sks with a cruciform bayonet, I thought it would fit nicely with the rest of my collection.
$1000 later and all cleaned up, it appears to be, save the stock, an unknackered 1949 # PM 1527.
Though it has no refurb markings on it the stock has obviously been replaced with a repaired and scrubbed one retaining only the matching serial number(stock is Russian Birch not a laminate).
Its all there correct bayonet and mount, sight block, early bolt, spring loaded firing pin, action cover holed lever, friction safety, correct butt plate, even the magazine, except here in Canada it was destroyed by having a reduction post welded in, like brand new unchromed lined barrel, all numbers matching, everything looks to be original and un replaced.
As a side note, I did shot it using Norinco clean 122grfmj at 100m, using the Russian standard of the best of 4, it shoots about 2-1/2-3" groups, very cool I thought, compared to many others I have shot.
Cheers
