49 Tula
« on: July 10, 2022, 06:29:40 PM »
Perusing a popular gun selling site is a 49 Tula for a buy now price of $5000. Starting bid of $4000 no reserve. I'm certainly no expert but this looks to be a heavy refurb complete with BBQ paint. Don't know about y'all but I don't think I would fork over 4-5 grand even if it's a 49.

How can these people say such lies? Because lying is not an issue when truth is not a value. Dennis Prager

Even poor condition correct 49s are taking a premium. If you need to fill a slot in the collection, you will have to step up to the plate to play.
I hear your words often Filroy, They are filled with logic and rationalization. But the point remains, there are just not that many unrefurbed or messed with 49s.

In 1998 I paid 600 bucks for a lightly refurbed 49 - (bayo change gas bloc replaced).  Everybody laughed and said I was crazy.

\Well.... I have a 49 and they do not, and 600 bucks is a drop in the bucket now.

Can barely get any SKS for $600 bucks now.  I'm sure there are some out there, but that's about the entry point I think.  I'm not really up on them.

As far as $4-5k, that's a huge NOPE! for me, but I don't have that kind of money to put into any rifle these days.  We're about to take a beach vacation we can't really afford, but I feel like it may be the last one for awhile.  My kids have some rough life ahead, so I'm trying to make their childhood as happy as I can...

Very interesting rifle indeed. Receiver cover is from a 1949 training SKS. Mag is a later replacement.

So what would an unrefirbed one be worth stateside?
Is one able to import one from Canada, `cause if its possible, then mine would be for sale for the right price.

After you smuggle it across the border you might be able to sell it :)

Sorry guys, been in Europe for the last 21 days. Jumping in on this...

Since a forced matched mag 1949 light refurb recently sold for over $5K this year, the opening bid of $4000 is not terrible on this most recent offering. Since it closed without a bid, but did not get relisted, a deal might have been reached outside of auction. I added it to my database which brings the known 1949 spike bayonet rifles to 4 units in the USA.

As of yet, no 1946, 1947, or 1948 rifles have appeared here or Canada.

If anyone knows of any more units that can be confirmed in the US, please let me know.

Here is the info on the last known sale.
