Shooting 3-5" groups with no magnification at 100 yards with a surplus rifle and cheap ammo is not a bad thing in my opinion. With a small amount of magnification like a 3x I bet that would tighten up.

What I'm seeing is a 2.5-3" MOA group and that's a little better than average for any SKS. Average is about 4" MOA. If your Vortex is a 2-3 MOA dot then you got your hits inside the dot and that's plenty good. If you hunt deer you'll never fail to take one with that rifle.
