My son turns 29 at the beginning of January. I think he finally found his nitch in life as a new Sargent in the Sheriff's dept at the 375 bed county jail. Working the night tour, he's the boss of the whole jail from midnight until 5:AM when all the big shots show up. Working in the SD for 5 years now and finds satisfaction in getting the sparks put out before they become fires. I never thought he would follow me threw a Corrections job but here he is! So with Christmas here, he gets a 2 part gift. The slide assembly under the tree and the frame assembly for his birthday in 2 weeks.
He's wanted a 45 1911 and his badge number happens to be 45 so thats what I put on the ghost frame. The Remington R1 slide is very well machined and well fit to my 80 percent frame. The hammer is a S&W unit that has the most aggressive thumb grooves coupled with a thin hammer face tip. giving the most thumb purchase. That and a trimmed back beaver tail that gives full access to cocked hammer, yet zero bite. The Sig style rounded edge grip sports an Aluminum main spring housing that I cut back and checkered its base curve to match the frame. Apparently, no one makes them in aluminum, so I modified a std 1911 straight into the Sig round heal type. The grips are also std 1911 cut to match the curved heal. The extensions are all cut to minimum extension and re formed n blasted matt. All in all, he better like it or I'll keep it for my 45 collection!
