Old Astra 357 Revolver
« on: January 07, 2023, 07:30:34 PM »
Inherited Astra 357.
Dug it out and cleaned and oiled.  FIL shot it about 50 times with 38 Special.
Big guy was afraid of 357 kick and never fired it with hot rounds.
Here it is next to my Model 19-5 4 inch.  The Astra with a 3" barrel weighs 2oz more.
I've got plenty of .357 reloads to play with.  Grip is color in the first pic.

Was planing a trip to the pistol range this weekend but the range is flooded so it will be another week.
Fresh ammo should be here by then for the wife's Taurus PT111 MP and my Girsan 1911.
Bought some "Defensive" ammo for both guns.

Nice. I have one with a 6" barrel and my bud has one with a 4 incher. I like the construction but it's a little big for my hand. PAX

Surfed around looking for another set of grips, FIL had sanded these just because???
Found the logo inserts and will probably buy a set but found no grips for it.

Just checked the Hogue grips for the Model 19 and with sanding I can make it fit.
Needs to go up into the finger curve about 3/16" more and redrill the stirrup that comes with the grip for the roll pin that is in a different location.
Think I will order one and sand on the old one.
Midway has a $10 off code, over $50 so I ordered a Hogue grip to replace the Model 19 grip and one for my Redhawk.
Roundup, tax, shipping for the two came to $60.
Rubber grip on the Ruger will make the wife happy :)

Sanded the Hogue grip and drilled the stirrup, and fits OK on the Astra.
