Got a WW2 P38.
« on: July 25, 2023, 08:19:05 PM »
Picked up my Mauser contracted built P38 off layaway today. All matching numbers. Checking the serial number online, it appears to have been manufactured in December of 1944. Despite being a late war pistol, she looks and functions fine, with no rough tool marks. Cleaning revealed it was shot very little, and taken good care of. For a 79 year-old pistol she looks great. I think I did ok for $550.

She was a treat to shoot, with Federal 115 grain round nose. One of the extra P1 mags I bought hangs up the slide/bolt on the top round. Perhaps a feed lip problem. Otherwise she shot fine with the other two mags, so I'm pretty sure it's not a pistol issue.

Great price for a Mauser produced pistol. I picked up a Spreewerk produced p38 In similar condition about 4 or 5 years back for $450.00 or $500.00 from a small local FFL.

For sure. That was the main appeal to this pistol that spoke to me.
