Anything that’s Russian is worth a premium, while it maybe at the lower end of the spectrum I bet you could easily fetch a $100.00 plus over what you paid for it.

If the dust cover is not matching, how do you know that it is a 50? Once you post some pictures, there are features that will show it to be a 50 or later production. If you google - 1950 SKS transitions, you will find more about the changes in the 1950 SKS.  11 that I have found, pictures included.
