Any idea what year this is?
« on: September 24, 2024, 03:04:44 AM »
New to these and was gifted this SKS so any info would be much appreciated.  I think it is a 55/56 onward letter series Tula but I?m not sure. Also curious why the front sight block has a ?1? etched into it.

Hi j, welcome aboard. Usually, the arsenal and year are stamped on the receiver cover and can be on the left side of the butt stock. If the cover or stock has been replaced or lost it can be tough to nail down. Does the hand guard have any number stamped horizontally on the left side? PAX

The receiver cover has a Star with nothing inside of it.

Take a close up of the star and around the receiver lug, look for small squares with a diagonal line through it. PAX
