My New Yugo Under Folder AK-47 Leather Cheekpiece

my boss dabbles in leather and custom grips for knives and SA wheel guns.... we go shooting my yugo and I mentioned/hint about the mods people were doing with para cord to improve the cheek feel on the UF.  Two days later he comes back with this. Now i was expecting a 5 minute para cord job, and i get smooth leather goodness.... it feels absolutly amazing on the cheek (it's a very very soft but tough leather), and i think it looks great!

...now to stain the wood to match.

How is it attached to the stock? Glue?

he explained it to me, but it was like a 5 step process.... he first stretched the leather for like a day, then used some kind automotive epoxy/bonding used in custom car upholstery, then bee's wax for something (which it still smells sweet of), then some kind of sealant wax.... the seem in the back is clean.  like i said, i was floored when he broke it out, so i didn't absorb to many details.

 I hope I'm wrong and I don't want to ruin anyones fun, but is that leather going to rust the metal over time? I was told never to leave a gun in a leather sheath or holster as the oils from the leather will rust it. I'm no expert, that's just something I was taught as a kid. Like I said, I hope I'm wrong.

i was taught the same thing! and in fact it crossed my mind...

...but to tell you the truth im not too worried about it, this is my beater ak, and in the time it MIGHT take to rust, i'm not worried about having to replace the folder

That is sweet, I love the idea and the look.
Definitely match the wood, the leather will age, but it will still look good.
If you trade that nice Yugo wood, I will hunt you down and wack your pee-pee!
