The Brown Dawn Scenario
« Reply #30 on: August 21, 2006, 05:22:19 PM »
I am tempted to blow off the idea of uneducated, untrained and poorly armed people being a threat, and then I think about Haiti where large groups of machete weilding mobs hacked up govt troops.

I would take nothing for granted if the SHTF in any way.
Experience is the hardest kind of teacher, it gives the test 1st and the lesson after.

Courage is knowing it may hurt and doing it anyway.
Stupidity is the same.
This is why life is so hard.

It seems this posting was more of a look at things to come, rather than a hypothetical scenario. Our recent election clearly demonstrates how significant the Hispanic vote has become. Mitt Romney lost the popular vote by less than 2 million votes, and the electoral vote by a landslide. According to the voting statistics, 73% of all Hispanics voted for Obama.

These numbers will only get worse as time goes by and their numbers and political representation grow. The death knell for the GOP has been clearly sounded, and the liberals now have the reigns of our once great nation securely in their hands.

Now It's free food, free medical care, free housing, free educations, and a clear path to citizenship for everyone. The only people who won't benefit from these generous entitlements are those who work and pay taxes to support them. Post-Apartheid South Africa is a good example of the road we're headed down.. :(

You're point being what?..  Just because a post is dated, doesn't automatically make it irrelevant.  I believe the content is just as accurate today as it was 6yrs ago, But hey, that's just my opinion, feel free to agree or disagree as you like.

I can find dozens of articles detailing the downfall of the Republican Party and how it will now continue to be reduced into insignificance over the next few years.  These articles were published in 1976, 1992 and 1994.  That's one of the great things about being a historian, nothing surprises you anymore.  There is quite simply nothing new under the sun.  I hear people talk about how China will be the next economic superpower and remember how they said the same damn thing about Japan back in the 80's. This is not to say nothing will ever change.  Americans tend to think that our civilization has been around for 200 years and will continue on indefinitely, but history teaches us that periods of peace and progress are rare.  Regimes rise and fall, but I find making historical predictions to be a losing proposition.  The only thing we can be sure of is that we will be surprised.

History isn't over people, it's being written as we speak and the only thing that will make these predictions come true is if we believe they will.  The father of modern conservatism Edmund Burke said it best "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."
I am the one they call Cesar.

My point being humor.

But since we're being pugnacious, you're first post is resurrecting a long dead topic. Now it is polite when you come into our place to introduce yourself, let us get to know you, and you us. But ya dug through our trash instead.
