Almost finished my project AK
« on: February 25, 2011, 03:28:32 AM »

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics.

Mak 90, Midwest Industries PALM hand guard with no name- gun show rail covers, Magpul foregrip, Tapco Saw grip & 6 position stock. Primary Arms micro with removable base. Quick adjust Super sling.

Deciding on a flash hider/muzzle brake & what colors Krylon homemade camo to use.

Good work!

Are you going to thread the muzzle or find a device to put over it and pin it on, etc.?

I had a pin on slnt brake on it before. Flew off during a range session.

This time I'm going to thread it.

It looks good.

Found a really good deal on a 4 pin muzzle brake adapter & threaded brake at the fun show today so I figured I'd give it another try.

Marked the pin holes once I had it on & aligned correctly, then slightly drilled out an indentation for the set screw to fit in when tightened. Cleaned everything off with brake parts cleaner & let dry. Applied blue loctite, reinstalled & tightened it down very snug.

I think I'm done unless I get the urge to paint it camo.

I used to be against the tactical AK look, but I'm coming around.  Your's looks great!  I'd like to do a similar setup with a Saiga.  How does the T-6 hold up while being fired?  I read some reviews about them collapsing after a few rounds.

just wondering. i like that upper foregrip (or what ever it's called) it's nice and lo-profile, can you still use the iron sights?

Thanks man, I'm really happy. Took it to the range today & had a blast. Everything held up great with just under 500rds fired.

Rifle: $500
Midwest Industries Palm front handguard: $125
Magpul front grip: $25
Tapco T-6 stock $35
Primary Arms Micro $80
Super Sling $20
Barrel adapter & flash hider $20

The MI Palm handguard & Primary Arms micro allow me to co-witness my iron sights.

I had wondered about that too, wonder how well one of these would work with that setup.

Wonder if this would work well with that too.

I'm not much for bubbaing AKs but that is one impressive rifle.
