Possible Scenarios
« on: January 19, 2006, 10:49:31 AM »
I'd like to know what everyone's plans are for a variety of different possible scenarios that could hit our nation.

Horrific Bird Flu Pandemic:

Chinese Invasion on Mainland USA:

Complete Economic Collapse:

Terrorist Attacks aimed at Infastructure:

Major Catastophic Natural Disaster:

Post your location too, just so I can get a feel for what area you might be in, what disaster, what threats you might have (urban riots, starvation, etc).  I'm just curious.

Funny thing is, any of those situations listed could lead to #3.

Bird flu pandemic: I would stay out of urban centers where there's more of a likelihood of martial law/quarantine. Contact local religious organizations (definitely not public schools) to use their network of healthcare professionals should me or a family member contract avian influenza (not much you can do probably except rest and pray).

Chinese Invasion: Propose emergency measures. All citizens of Chinese descent should be relocated to Federally-designated areas for security reasons. (just kidding) Stock up on ammo and hope they don't make it far from the coast. I can't fly a fighter jet and I'm not in the military. Though an invasion along our West Coast would take a logistical miracle to pull off.

Complete Economic Collapse: What does this mean? Like Depression-era soup lines? Is there social collapse or just massive devaluation of the USD?

Terrorist Attacks aimed at Infrastructure: Power? Electricity? Crops? Water treatment?

Major Catatrophic Natrual Disaster: Depends on the disaster.

some people buy much more ammo than they shoot or may ever shoot.
Be prepared!

Just about all possible SHTF contingencies are covered on this excellent Dutch site, Exit Mundi.

BTW, my money is on "Runaway Greenhouse Effects" to show and "Ice Age" to place.

But for sheer TEOTWAWKI splendor, the inevitable Peak Oil scenario is the scariest -and least avoidable- scenario to bring Civilization to its knees...especially in the US.

I would bugout for all of the above mentioned scenarios. I live in a half and half ghetto/suburban neighborhood that is affectionately called "Prostitution Park". Lots of undesirables of every imaginable shape, size, and color, not to mention the state police visits to the meth houses and domestic disturbances. I hope I have enough warning to get out by car, if not, we'll wait til dark and hump it to my mother-in-law's house.

We had a tornado on Jan. 2 of this year, and I had a tiny taste of what martial law and shft shortages will be like. Due to the nature of my neighborhood, the state boys blocked off the only way in and out and stopped every car after dark. Now I understand looting could theoretically happen anywhere, but this place is known for its poverty. I had to answer a lot of stupid questions and submit my "papers" but at least my vehicle was not searched like that other poor guy. I want no part of it. If I know its coming, I'm gone.

out here meth houses are destroyed,  there is little tolerance for the thievery that accompanies meth and its victims.
Be prepared!

Meth houses are too prevelant around here... no way that they would be stamped out in a bad scenario....

You forgot the most likely SHTF senario...

Full blown police state by our own government.
