As long as the strain stays in the bird populace, we have nothing to worry about. It's when it "jumps" to another species that we have a problem.

It has already reached Iraq too and will sweep through the Middle East. I fear in the coming Months it will reach South America and come through Mexico to our Country. This is going to be a World outbreak, in Countries where it has already reached Birds it is only a matter of time before it reaches Humans.

You mean it's just a matter of time until it jumps from Human to Human. It's already gone from Bird-Human.

When you consider that Bubonic Plague was nothing compared to this, with 50% kill rate, and the people who it's most likely to kill are the STRONG PEOPLE IN GOOD HEALTH as opposed to the very old and very young....

You can conclude that there's going to be a problem.

Wouldn't surprise me if there have already been incidents of human-human transmission in China. They've got a pretty good control on what information comes out of the country.

Unless the gov't found out very very early about the outbreak and killed all who had it or knew about it....

Also, the 50% death rate has been in China and the Middle East (where it has crossed to humans). I think our sanitation and healthcare here should be able to lower this number greatly.

It is already beginning, as it spreads to all parts of the World it will eventually strike and go from Human to Human. This has the potential to kill Hundreds of Millions, possibly Billions. I don't know, it may be Nature's way of Population Control, 3 Billion people dead would greatly decrease growth for decades. Then again I do not think we have anything to worry about here in the USA as long as it doesnt get to South America, those countries are poor and underdeveloped so it would likely easily sweep through there to Central America, and into the States. Still, America cannot afford NOT to be prepared, medicines and medical care should be ready, maybe a vaccine to make Humans Immune.

I mean no offend to anyone by what i am about to say.We can all be as wishful thinking as we want but the truth is there is really no stoping this form happing it is not a if but a when.Grounding plane and closing our border will not really do much do to the fact the virus problly will come form a bird not a man.When it does hit us here is the USA it will be when the birds return form the south for spring.As for a vaccine well that could happen anything can happy but it does take time and sine it is a strain of Flu it will be hard if not impossible to come up with a cure to for it for the simple fact that it mutates and once angin we have a new strain to come with a vaccine for.This is whole reason why there is a new vaccine out every year.They make a vaccine to deal with the most common and dangerous strains of the flu for that season.And as for the USA being ready for a outbreak that is a glass half full.As of right now there is one drug that can help with this and it is by no means a cure all it does is treat the sisdumes of the Flu not the virus that is the cause of it.Form what i understand and know fo the Bird Flu is that your lungs fill with fluid thus causing you to drowned to death.I believe this is what most die form.As i see it you do not die form the Flu you die form complications of it like AIDS.Last i heard the grate US of A was way down on the waiting list for this drug and that our stock piles of it would not put a dent in the number of people that would need it when the time comes.I might only be turning 21 but i damn well know that the USA looks more in along the lines of now not later which they and we as a people should do.So in the end all we can really do is one of two things A:try our best to prepare the best we can and wait this out and not kill each out which will happen(meaning people will fright over the basic things they need to live) or B: which is sit on our collective asses and think that our almighty US of A will take care off it all and for us not to worry.I feel there is nothing wrong with having faith in our government nor in god but in the end you are all that you have so be prepared just in case the need ever arises to do so.Thanks for reading this and sorry for the spelling and grammar.

First off, this is not meant to offend anyone who is Hispanic. However, there is a Mexican trailer park (all the inhabitants are Mexicans) a few miles from me. And, as in Mexico, some or all of the residents keep chickens (I assume for food). When you talk about an outbreak on this continent, I think this type of situation (which is quite similar to the one in Asia) is where bird flu in the U.S. will come from.
