Anyone else have an AMD 63 or 65 they love?
« on: January 13, 2012, 11:27:31 AM »
Here is my AMD63. I knocked a chuck out of the butt stock in a 3 gun match recently. I love competing with this rifle it maneuvers so well.

Nice hybrid Hungarian.  Looks like a cross between a AMD65 and AKM63. Screw build.  Buttstock is mod'd Chinese or Maadi? Hogue rear grip Hungarian front?  Too bad about the stock.  Did you find the piece to glue er up?  Barrel length in the 2nd & 3rd pic look a little shy.

Did not find the piece. It is a painted Chinese stock. I like the weight it added over the fiberglass stocks.

rear grip is not a Hogue, it is actually a Command Arms.

As for the barrel length...not sure what you mean, must have been clipped when uploading the picture...... 8)

I own/built several Hungarian AKM's.  Working on the last one now., an AK63 which looks like a standard type AKM with wood furniture front and rear. Good shooters.  The AMD65 is hard on folks to the left or right of ya, though.

Top - AMD65., center AKMS., bottom AKM63

Yeah forgive me if I'm wrong but you basically have an SBR there and you might want to make sure you're legal before you leave the pics up here. Personally I don't blame you if you don't care, it's an incredibly stupid law, but understand that the laws concerning this is pretty serious stuff vs. 922r offenses.

I don't see any welds on the original muzzle brake, which if true would put the AMD-63 in SBR territory.. Like I said forgive me if I'm wrong, but that's how it looks from those pics.

They are all legal 99.9% of the time, can't blame me for taking the chance to catch it in a photo op between muzzlebrake swap outs though.  :)

My subtle hint above was not meant to "out" your rifle.  But now that it is., swapping the brakes is not helpful unless the longer brake is permanently welded, 1200 degree silver soldered or blind pinned and welded. Just an FYI.

I love my 65. Out of all the rifles I have or have owned previously, this is my favorite. This pic was taken a couple years ago but it looks mostly the same. I added the AMD65 Tech rear sling attachment and put a sling on it, that's about it. Sorry for the crummy pic.
